Five ways to Show the Love

Categories:

For Valentine’s Day this year, Cubiquity are promoting how we can ‘Show the Love’ for the Environment and how by placing sustainability at the heart of everything we do, then we can work together (customers and suppliers) to make a real difference and reduce our impact on climate change.

Print procurement plays a key role in influencing the delivery of any organisation’s contribution to sustainable development. Our account team always utilise their position in the chain to ensure that environmental and sustainable factors are embraced by all.

Cubiquity makes every effort to ensure that all activities and services we provide to our clients are aligned with our sustainable procurement policy by procuring goods, services, and works from suppliers that have submitted an appropriate evaluation of their environmental policies.

Cubiquity are committed to making a positive impact through our actions, both for the environment and for the people in our communities.  To cement this commitment, we have launched an initiative called RISE, which brings together our core values of Respect, Innovation, Sustainability and Empowerment in relation to the supply of print and design services.

More about our RISE initiative

There are many ways that you can show the love with us and embrace our shared values for sustainability and social value. Below are just five areas where Cubiquity can inspire, encourage and support your ESG program.

1. We OFFSET carbon emissions of your printed marketing communications materials

In addition to the wide range of environmentally focused products and services on offer, we also partner with the World Land Trust (WLT) and the Woodland Trust (WT) to offset carbon emissions of the paper based materials used in your printed communications.

Our customers are reaping the benefits of this program, and by working with Cubiquity, we  measure CO2 impact of base materials used in their print projects, and then offset at source through the work of WLT  and WT. To measure their success, we provide monthly certificates detailing the total amount of carbon dioxide offset and the total area of critically threatened tropical forests worldwide protected or the size of new native woodlands planted in the UK.

We also provide more detailed impact reports to our customers who embrace our RISE initiative on a quarterly basis outlining the services and benefits they achieved across the RISE values by working with us.

2. We OFFER environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives

We offer a wide range of sustainable products, from recycled papers, compostable bags, recyclable coffee cups to sprout pencils, seed cover notebooks, and bamboo banner stands. Our products are carefully and responsibly sourced from Sedex-approved suppliers, taking into account factors including reusability and recyclability, providing environmental, social and economic benefits throughout the supply chain.

Whether the project is point of sale, operational stationery, marketing literature, promotional goods, signage, uniforms and clothing, exhibition stands, corporate / customer hampers and gifting, packaging or almost any other requirements, we have the solutions to provide an eco- friendly alternative.

We’re here to support our customers and work with them to ensure that we deliver the right product and the best price and which meets their brief. Your account team are on hand to utilise our quality approved supplier base, delivering environmentally friendly solutions on the widest range of products.

3. We ELIMINATE single-use plastics

Single-use plastics have become a major focus for many global brands in recent years, and new alternatives to conventional plastic-based items are constantly being developed. We work alongside our customers and our supply chain to review new innovations as they become available and introduce initiatives wherever possible to minimise the use of single-use plastics across our own operations, within the products and services we deliver for you and throughout our supply chain.

There are a number of initiatives we can work on with you to reduce (and wherever possible, eliminate) the use of single-use plastics in the supply chain. Few examples could include:

  1. The use of either paper envelopes/wraps or eco-friendly alternatives (e.g., corn starch) to plastic mailing bags when sending out mailings or adapting mailing items to increase suitability for “naked mailing”.
  2. Discouraging the use of shrink wrap through the supply chain – using paper banding or recycled corrugated cages as an alternative.
  3. Provide a complete range of suitable packaging materials, made from recycled cardboard, paper and plastics. We have taken this stance as part of our sustainable fulfilment strategy which we also believe matches the corporate objectives of our clients.

4. We PROMOTE FSC/PEFC certified paper

We aim to continually improve the environmental impact of our activities. We recognise our responsibility towards the protection of the environment and offer you an environmentally focused service, showing a commitment to minimise the environmental impact of your products.

Our environmental initiatives are all geared towards achieving a neutral Carbon Offset target and a Carbon Reduction Plan.

All of the paper that we use for customers work is FSC or PEFC certified, meaning that the wood used to make that paper is sourced from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), ensuring that all of our paper-based projects are sustainable and there is no net loss of forest. Reversing deforestation and maintaining irreplaceable forests are crucial to fighting climate change.

5. We SUPPORT social enterprises to build Social Value

Cubiquity’s partner Beam, an innovative social enterprise/crowd-funding platform, helps people who are homeless remove some of the financial barriers to finding new employment and accommodation. We have committed to donating a percentage of our profits and to date have supported 90 people, some who have succeeded in securing jobs and new accommodation with others still on their own journey.

In addition to making regular donations from Cubiquity we are also working with customers to establish how they can become involved in this impactful social enterprise. This allows them to create their own branded and dedicated impact page so they can measure how their company’s support for the homeless is making a significant difference. The tools are then provided to share with their own staff and customers showing the positive social impact they have had as a result of the working alongside Cubiquity.

So what’s stopping you, why not join us in ‘showing the love’ for sustainable and social initiatives and together we can make a real difference.
